Dressing your tables for Valentines Day

Updated on: January 23 2014

Valentines Day – a day in which lovers flock from all over to beautiful boutique hotels and snug hideouts to celebrate this romantic occasion. Here at Hilden we know you’re bound to be booked up in advance this time of year. Guests will be expecting a little romantic luxury, so it’s a great opportunity for you to wow them with those special finishing touches. The perfect way to spoil your guests this Valentines Day is to give them the perfect dining experience. From candles to table linen, flowers to tableware – there are lots of little things you can do to turn your hotel, guesthouse or B&B in to a luxury romantic retreat.

Table linen

The obvious choice for dressing your table is using rich hues of red and maybe a dash of pink too. Place red tablecloths on top of a white under tablecloths and accessorise with high quality table napkins. You can either keep to the red theme or go for a contrast with crisp white napkins for your setting. Don’t forget to brush up on your napkin folding skills to really wow your guests.

There’s nothing better than your guests sitting down at a well dressed table laden with beautiful plates, shiny cutlery and exquisite glassware. Entice them into their sumptuous meal and delicious drinks. Go for neutral tones, crisp white will stand out on a deep red tablecloth.

Finishing Touches

So the table is made, the tableware is in place and your menu is finalised; what else could possibly create the perfect romantic atmosphere for your guests we hear you ask! Adding finishing touches to your room and tables will set you apart from the rest. Use candles and beautiful flowers as centrepieces to really bring your table to life and create an ambience for your guests.

Food & Drink

Finally the main event of the night; the food and drink you will serve. When couples book to have a romantic break away for Valentines Day the meal can quite often be a deciding factor for them. Think about set menus Vs. A la carte. Also think about the types of foods that could set you apart from other establishments. You could try experimenting with steak, fish or really push the boat out with aphrodisiacs such as Lobster. Serve these alongside fine wines and a selection of cocktails and you’re bound to have people shouting from the rooftops about your hotel.
