It’s day two in our Meet the Judge series and today we’ll be putting our three questions to Anne Britton, Executive Housekeeper of the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel, London.
Hilden’s hospitality Style Awards are the only awards that recognise interior design and unique style from boutique and independent hospitality establishments in the UK. With a host of prizes up for grabs and five esteemed industry judges deciding this year’s winners, this is the perfect opportunity to put your independent hotel, restaurant or B&B in the style spotlight.
Anne has recently stepped down as National Chairman and London & SE Chairman of UKHA, where she re-profiled the organisation, brought in lots of new initiatives and doubled the membership. She also co-initiated and now runs EHA, the European website link for Housekeeping Associations. Anne has been an Executive Housekeeper for 25 years, during this time she has opened a number of hotels in Europe and Egypt.
What made you decide to be a judge this year?
I am passionate with design. With my partner who is a property developer, we would spend a lot of our spare time in shows/exhibitions or simply watching design programmes on TV. Style and trend have developed so much over the years, we need to keep up. As a Housekeeper I also know that a design which looks good but can’t be maintained does not work well in Hospitality, so more thought has to be in place to make it sustainable.
What kind of entries are you looking for / do you hope to see?
Innovation, quirkiness and individual styles.
What is your interior design style?
I like most styles if well executed, novel and to still convey a warm and comfortable feeling.
